Motorcyclist dies after collision in Spartanburg County

SPARTANBURG CO., SC – A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a pickup truck Wednesday morning, reports WYFF

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Silver Lake Road, approximately one mile east of Riedville, on February 24th. The victim was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle southbound, while a woman in a 2003 Ford pickup truck was driving north. The motorcycle crashed into the pickup truck while the Ford was turning onto Dillard Road. 

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. He has been identified as 23-year-old Tyler Warfield.

News: Pedestrian killed in fatal Orangeburg County crash

ORANGEBURG CO., SC – A pedestrian has died after being hit by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning, reports WIS 10

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 5:00 AM on February 23rd in the 2600 block of St. Matthews Road. The pedestrian was hit by a 2003 Chevy while walking east along St. Matthews Road.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. Sadly, they later succumbed to their injuries while in the hospital. 

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the victim.

There is no information yet as to whether the driver will face criminal charges. South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.

News: Injuries reported after water rescue on flooded roadway

HORRY CO., SC – One person remains in the hospital after their car was partially submerged underwater Saturday, reports WMBF

Horry County Fire Rescue received the emergency call at 7:41 PM on February 20th and immediately responded to the stranded driver who was stuck in the area of 1276 Highway 31. The roadway had flooded, and the driver was unable to escape.

The driver was transported to the hospital from the scene of the incident. There is currently no information on their identity or condition.

News: Berkeley County K9 unit involved in fatal crash

BONNEAU, SC – One person has died and two people have been injured after a pickup truck crashed into a deputy’s vehicle Tuesday morning.

WCSC reports that the accident occurred at 10:02 AM on February 23rd. The deputy’s vehicle, a 2019 Chevy Tahoe, was traveling westbound on U.S. 52. A 1984 Toyota pickup truck attempted to turn left from Shelley Road onto U.S. 52, subsequently colliding with the Chevy Tahoe.

The driver of the 1984 Toyota died at the scene of the accident. Both the passenger of the 1984 Toyota and the deputy were transported to Trident Medical Center. The K9 was taken to an emergency veterinarian to be treated.

Authorities report that all of the people involved had been wearing seatbelts.

News: One man dies in undiscovered overnight crash

CAMDEN, SC – A man has died following an overnight crash Sunday that wasn’t discovered for nearly eight hours, reports WIS.

According to Kershaw County authorities, the crash occurred between midnight and 1:00 AM on February 21st on Mt. Zion Road. 33-year-old Tobias Sanders was driving a pickup truck through a rural area east of Camden when he veered off the road and crashed into several trees. 

The accident was not discovered until around 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Emergency responders transported Sanders to the hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. 

The exact circumstances of the crash remain unknown, and South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.

News: One woman killed in crash, teen charged with reckless homicide

ROCK HILL, SC – Justin Valdez, 19, has been charged with reckless homicide after a multi-vehicle accident resulted in the death of a York woman Saturday evening.

According to The Herald, the three-car accident occurred around 8:30 PM on February 20th, when Valdez drove his Infiniti sedan into oncoming traffic on Celanese Road. His car struck a Chevrolet SUV, and a Nissan Pathfinder subsequently crashed into Valdez’s vehicle. 

The driver of the Chevrolet SUV died after being transported to the hospital. The York County Coroner’s Office identified her as 56-year-old Teresa Hewetson. A passenger in the Chevrolet, an unidentified 61-year-old man, sustained severe injuries and remains in the hospital. 

Three people in the Nissan Pathfinder were also injured, but are in stable condition. 

An 18-year-old passenger in Valdez’s vehicle was seriously injured and remains in the hospital. 

Valdez was treated at Piedmont Medical Center and then transported to Rock Hill Jail where he awaits his first court appearance.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Rock Hill police continue to investigate the accident.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – A multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon has caused several injuries and blocked traffic on two roads, reports ABC 15.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department states that the accident occurred at the intersection of 29th Avenue North and Robert Grissom Parkway. There is currently no information on the number of vehicles involved in the crash, nor the number or severity of injuries suffered. 

The westbound lane of 29th Avenue North and the northbound lane of Robert Grissom Parkway remain closed to traffic. Officials request that local drivers avoid the area of the crash in order to ensure the safety of both the emergency responders and the public.
