SUMTER, SC – A motorcyclist was killed after attempting to pass another vehicle in Sumter yesterday evening, according to WIS News.

The crash happened on Boulevard Road, near Ridgeway Street, at about 6 p.m. on April 9, as the 31-year-old operator of a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle attempted to pass a 2012 Toyota Corolla on the left.

The Toyota then made a left turn onto Ridgeway, and Marquies Tomlin, the motorcyclist, crashed into the Toyota’s door.

Tomlin, who was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, died at the scene.

The other driver was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Charleston.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
