SPARTANBURG, COUNTY, SC – The president of Converse University died in a bicycle accident on Wednesday evening, the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office confirms.
According to News 13, 64-year-old Jeffrey Harrison Barker was riding his bicycle on Meadowbrook Road when for an unknown reason he veered off the road and crashed. The accident happened near Cherry Hill Rd.
Though Barker was wearing a helmet, he died of his injuries.
