CHEROKEE, SC – Cherokee County Deputy Sardarius Henderson and his K9 unit, Loki, were injured in an accident while in pursuit of a vehicle Sunday morning, reports WFXR.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place at the intersection of Logan Street and Floyd Baker Boulevard at 7:10 AM on July 4th. Henderson had been in pursuit of a speeding vehicle when he was forced to avoid another vehicle that had disregarded a traffic signal at the intersection. Henderson subsequently lost control of his vehicle and exited the roadway before striking a utility pole and overturning.
