FORT MILL, SC – One person has died after they were struck while out of their vehicle on I 77 northbound Wednesday morning, according to WCNC.

South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the fatal collision took place on I 77 northbound near Gold Hill Road and Carowinds Boulevard the morning of July 7th. The driver of a trash truck reportedly pulled over to the left side of the road and exited their vehicle to pick up some debris on the highway. They were then struck by a box truck that was also traveling northbound.

The driver of the trash truck sadly died at the scene. The coroner’s office has yet to identify the victim.
