BERKELEY CO., SC – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Saint Stephen, reports WCSC.
According to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, the fatal accident took place on North Highway 52 near Route Branch Road around 5:15 AM on June 29th. The bicyclist had been traveling east when they were struck by an also eastbound 2018 Toyota pickup truck.
The bicyclist, identified as 50-year-old Michael Gouin, sadly died at the scene.
It is unclear at this moment if charges will be filed against the driver of the pickup truck.
Both South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office are currently investigating the accident.
