GEORGETOWN, SC – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a dump truck on US 17-A west of Georgetown early this morning, the Sun News reports.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says that the fatal collision happened at about 3:25 a.m. today near the intersection with Snooks Court, about seven miles from Georgetown. The dump truck struck the pedestrian as they were both traveling south on US 17-A.

Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. That individual has not been identified at this time.

The truck’s driver was unhurt. It is not clear whether any criminal charges will be filed.
