COLLETON CO., SC – 47-year-old Roland Owens has been charged with felony DUI after a single-vehicle accident killed one passenger and injured another Thursday night, according to ABC 4 News.

South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the fatal accident took place on Highway 61 near Secondary 45 around 10:00 PM on June 3rd. Owens drove a minivan into the intersection before running off the road and colliding with a tree. 

The front seat passenger sadly died at the scene.

The back seat passenger was injured and taken to Trident Medical Center.

Neither passenger had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both of their identities are unknown at this time.

Owens was charged with felony DUI and booked into Colleton County Detention Center.

South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
