BARNWELL CO., SC – A 15-year-old has died and three others have been injured after a single-vehicle accident Sunday evening, reports WRDW.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place on S.C. 3 at Red Oak Road around 7:50 PM on May 30th. A 2007 Saturn veered off the right side of the road before overcorrecting and exiting the roadway to the left. The vehicle subsequently collided with a tree and overturned.

A 15-year-old passenger, who had not been wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. They will remain unidentified due to their status as a minor.

The driver and two other passengers had been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. They suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The Barnwell County Coroner’s Office continues to investigate the accident.
