BOWMAN, SC – A retired magistrate was killed in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 301 on Friday afternoon, according to WIS TV.

The collision happened on May 28 on Highway 301 N, near Landsdowne Road, as 71-year-old Eutawville resident Jacob Gillens Sr., was operating a 2006 Cadillac. He went off the left side of the highway, then crashed into an embankment and overturned.

Gillens, who retired last year, died as a result of the crash. No other people were injured.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision at this time.
