COLUMBIA, SC – Emergency crews discovered a body on the median of I 77 hours after a two-vehicle accident that took place early Thursday morning.

According to WIS, the accident took place on I 77 at mile marker 19 near Farrow Road around 2:00 AM on May 6th. A 2007 Chevy Trailblazer crashed into the median, overcorrected, and then rear-ended a Nissan. 

The driver of the Nissan was injured and immediately taken to the hospital.

Over eight hours later, around 10:30 AM on May 6th, officials from the Department of Transportation discovered a dead body on the median near the crash site. Officials believe the victim to be the driver of the Chevy Trailblazer, but the coroner’s office has not officially identified the deceased.

The accident remains under investigation.
