HORRY CO., SC – One person was seriously injured in a boating accident Sunday night, and the driver was subsequently charged with BUI according to ABC 15 News.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources reports that the boat’s passenger checked themselves into the Emergency Room just after midnight on May 3rd and told officials they had been injured in a boat crash. Based on the information the passenger gave, the Department of Natural Resources was able to apprehend the driver and charge them with boating under the influence.

The injured passenger remains in the hospital. Their identity and condition is unknown at this time.

The Department of Natural Resources is currently investigating the crash to determine where it took place.
