BEAUFORT CO., SC – Three people were killed and two people were hospitalized after a crash that sent one vehicle off a bridge early Saturday morning, reports WCSC.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident took place on the Hilton Head Bridge around 2:10 AM on May 1st. A 2016 Chevy Silverado collided with a 2018 Ford Fusion, sending the Chevy off the bridge and into the water. 

The driver of the Chevy was found dead in the submerged vehicle. 

The driver of the Ford and one passenger were also found dead on the bridge. Two other passengers in the Ford were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The coroner’s office has yet to identify any of the victims.

South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
