HICKORY TAVERN, SC – 60-year-old Michael Henry Miller died Tuesday as a result of severe burn injuries suffered after his motorcycle caught fire, reports WYFF.

According to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Miller had been involved in a traffic stop at Neely Ferry Road and Wasson Gin Road around 5:00 PM on April 25th. While stopped, the motorcycle fell over and spilled fuel as a result of a missing gas cap, causing the bike to burst into flames.

Authorities were able to put out the fire at the scene, but Miller was severely burned and taken to the Augusta Burn Center where he unfortunately passed away on April 27th.

The motorcycle passenger also suffered a burned foot.
