CHEROKEE CO., SC – 80-year-old John L. Peterson died Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision that took place nears Blacksburg Monday, reports WYFF.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Kings Creek Drive around 1:00 PM on April 5th. Peterson had been driving a 1997 Nissan pickup truck north when he attempted to make a left turn and was struck by an oncoming 2014 Ford SUV.

Peterson was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The 57-year-old driver and 79-year-old passenger of the Ford were both injured and hospitalized as well. Neither of their conditions or identities are known at this time.
