LAKE SECESSION, SC (ABBEVILLE COUNTY) – An 18-year-old college student was killed in a boating accident on Lake Secession late last night, according to FOX Carolina.

The accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. March 12, when 18-year-old Erskine College student Jack Franklin-Lee Hunt and another student were returning the boat to the dock.

The boat collided with debris in the lake, which then struck Hunt. He died as a result.

The other student was not reported as injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Abbeville County Coroner’s office.
