CHEROKEE CO., SC – A police chase on Thursday ended in a crash that killed two occupants of the pursued vehicle.

WYFF reports that the single-vehicle accident occurred at the corner of Buford Street and Camellia Circle at around 7:30 PM on March 11th. The police chase began in Cleveland County when a state trooper noticed that a Jeep SUV whose owner had multiple outstanding warrants, and initiated a traffic stop. The SUV sped off, leading police into Cherokee County, where the SUV eventually exited the roadway and collided with a tree. 

Both occupants of the SUV were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The coroner’s office has identified the deceased as 25-year-old Preston Emory Grant and 37-year-old Simms Leigh Ottinger.
