CAMDEN, SC (KERSHAW COUNTY) – Two people were killed after a home caught fire in Kershaw County on Friday night, according to WLTX.

The blaze happened in Camden, at a home on Lyttleton Street, at about 8 p.m. March 5.

The homeowner, 65-year-old Avery Smullen, was pulled from the flames by first responders and taken to the hospital. There, he succumbed to his injuries.

48-year-old Jeanette Richardson, a resident, died at the scene.

Smullen’s wife was reportedly able to escape the home. It is unclear at this point if she was injured in the blaze.

The fire remains under investigation at this time.
