NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – A fire at an apartment complex has been contained, but 19 people are left unhoused after the building sustained significant damage on Sunday.

WCSC reports that the North Charleston Fire Department responded to the emergency call at Midland Park Road and South Kenwood Road around 12:30 PM on February 28th. They were able to get the fire under control within roughly 20 minutes. Charleston County EMS also responded to the scene, but no injuries have been reported yet.

19 people remain homeless as a result of the water, smoke, and fire damage to the building. The Red Cross is currently assisting all of the victims affected by the fire.
