BONNEAU, SC – One person has died and two people have been injured after a pickup truck crashed into a deputy’s vehicle Tuesday morning.

WCSC reports that the accident occurred at 10:02 AM on February 23rd. The deputy’s vehicle, a 2019 Chevy Tahoe, was traveling westbound on U.S. 52 when a 1984 Toyota pickup truck attempted to turn left from Shelley Road onto U.S. 52 and struck the Tahoe.

The driver of the Toyota died at the scene of the accident. The deputy and a passenger in the Toyota were transported to Trident Medical Center. A police dog that had been in the deputy’s vehicle was taken to an emergency veterinarian to be treated.

Authorities report that all of the people involved had been wearing seatbelts.
