FLORENCE CO., SC – One person has died after losing control of their vehicle on U.S. 76 Friday morning, reports WMBF.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle accident occurred around 6:00 AM on February 19th, near where U.S. 76 intersects with Cartersville Highway. The driver of a 1999 Chevrolet swerved to the left before losing control of their vehicle and running off the side of the highway. The Chevrolet subsequently hit a road sign and overturned in a ditch, where it also hit a tree. 

The driver died at the scene of the crash. Their identity has not yet been released.

South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
