FLORENCE, SC – A single-vehicle crash late Friday night caused significant damage to several utility poles and power lines along North Irby Street, leaving residents without electricity for several hours.

SC Now reports that the crash occurred February 12th near Williams Boulevard. Florence police arrived on the scene around 11:30 PM to find several utility poles damaged and power lines lying in the street. Residents of North Irby Street were without electricity from late Friday night to early Saturday morning.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police also report that the vehicle had been stolen.

Duke Energy crews were able to repair the damage and restore electricity by 1:30 AM Saturday morning. The road was able to reopen at the same time.
