CHARLESTON CO., S.C. – Charleston Police responded to a collision on Highway 61 yesterday in which two people were injured, one seriously.

WCSC reports that the two-vehicle collision occurred in the area of Highway 61 and Ashley Hall Road early on the morning of February 8, 2021. One of the drivers was pulled to safety by a witness after their vehicle caught fire.

Both motorists were taken to Medical University of South Carolina, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with less serious injuries.

Traffic in the area was blocked for some time as crews worked to clear the roadway.
