LITTLE RIVER, SC – One person was killed Monday morning after their vehicle crashed into a pond in a residential neighborhood, WBTW reports.

Horry County Fire Rescue was called to the 3000 block of Fairway Drive shortly before 7:15 a.m. on February 8, 2021 to respond to the incident. A dive team was required to pull the vehicle from the water.

Investigators determined that a 2007 Cadillac had been traveling south on US 17 when it ran off the right side of the roadway, hit an embankment, and crashed into the pond, coming to a rest on its roof. The driver—who appears to have been the vehicle’s only occupant—died in the collision.
