FLORENCE CO., SC – A contractor died at the McCall Farms Food Plant in Effingham on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
WPDE reports that the man has been identified as 30-year-old Innovation Refrigeration Systems employee Ryan Seither, 30. Seither had been contracted to do unspecified work on the facility’s refrigeration system on Saturday night and Sunday morning. No other workers were at the facility except for security guards.
The cause of Seither’s death has not been disclosed. His body has been taken to Medical University of South Carolina for an autopsy.
South Carolina Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation of the incident.
The McCall Farms Food Plant was the site of another fatal workplace incident this past September.
