COLUMBIA, SC – Over 30 people, including 21 children, were displaced from their homes when an apartment complex caught fire in Columbia yesterday afternoon.

According to The State, the incident happened in the 500 block of Alcott Road at about 3 p.m. on January 29, when a space heater caught fire, and spread to the roof.

Over eight apartment units sustained severe damage, leaving a total of 33 people without their homes.

The Red Cross is assisting the victims with shelter, food, and clothing.

There is no word if anyone was injured during the blaze.
