HOPKINS, SC – A 42-year-old man was killed southeast of Columbia yesterday morning in a house fire that authorities believe was intentionally set, according to WACH.

The blaze occurred in Hopkins, in the 100 block of American Avenue at about 6 a.m. on January 22, when authorities believe a person started a fire using combustible materials inside of one of the rooms of the home.

Hopkins man Brandon Burder, 42, was discovered dead inside the home by firefighters.

No other injuries were reported in the fire.

The blaze remains under investigation at this time.
