EASLEY, SC (PICKENS COUNTY) – An 89-year-old man was killed when his house caught fire in Pickens County yesterday, according to Fox Carolina.

The blaze began at a home in Easley, on N 1st Street and near City Hall at 8:52 a.m. on January 16.

The homeowner, 89-year-old Charles Hamilton, died as a result of the fire.

Authorities were able to tamp down the flames in about 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available, and remains under investigation at this time.
