SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC – A female passenger was killed and an unidentified driver was sent to the hospital after a rear-end collision on I-26 Thursday morning, WSPA reports.

The driver of a 2005 Ford minivan was traveling east on I-26 at about 8:10 a.m. on January 14, 2021 when their vehicle collided with the rear of a 2017 Freightliner dump truck.

74-year-old Joyce Moss Harwood, a passenger in the Ford, was pinned in the minivan following the crash. Emergency crews were able to extricate her from the vehicle. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene moments later.

The minivan driver was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the Freightliner was unhurt.
