CHARLESTON, SC – An accident on Thursday, January 7, 2021 caused a two mile backup on westbound I-526 right before the Clements Ferry Road exit (23A).

WSCS News report the accident initially blocked all lanes around 8:30 a.m., but soon after the far left hand lane was reopened. All lanes were reopened around 10 a.m.

EMS responded to the crash scene, but it is unknown if anyone was injured.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
