MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – Two people are dead, and a sheriff’s deputy was hurt when two vehicles collided near Mount Pleasant this afternoon, according to WCSC.

The accident occurred on Highway 17 N, near Bee Hive Road, as a Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputy was responding to a call.

The deputy’s vehicle then collided with a civilian’s vehicle while on the way to the emergency.

Two people in the civilian’s car died as a result of the collision.

The deputy sustained non-critical injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident at this time.
